Personnel

The Personnel Department’s primary responsibility is to ensure uniformity in the application of the board’s personnel system under applicable federal, state, and local laws. In order to accomplish this, the Personnel Department must address itself to six specific areas, often referred to as merit principles. These areas are:

  1. Selection and recruitment
  2. Classification and compensation
  3. Equal employment opportunity
  4. Evaluations, separations, and layoffs
  5. Training
  6. Labor relations
Personnel is also responsible for conducting benefit analysis and research, providing central intake for applications, controlling centralized personnel records, and providing human resource / labor relations technical assistance to enhance the performance of human resources in county employment.
