On November 4, 2014, voters living in the unincorporated areas of Greene County passed Issue 3: Governmental Electrical Aggregation, allowing the Greene County Commissioners to gather more information and possibly act on behalf of electric consumers in the unincorporated areas of Greene County to negotiate an electric supply contract with an eligible provider.
After several months of research, input, and careful consideration, the Greene County Commissioners sent out a Request for Proposal, resulting in a contract with Interstate Gas Supply, Inc. (IGS) as the exclusive supplier of electricity to the County program.
Under this Electric Aggregation program, the cost for eligible residents will be 5.95 cents per kWh through the May, 2018 billing period. If you live in an unincorporated area of Greene County, you will be receiving a letter from IGS in the mail within the next three weeks further detailing the program. Currently, the letters are expected to be mailed to your homes on June 15th.
Although it is believed that most residents will benefit from this program, it is understood that all may not wish to participate. It is important to note that you will be automatically enrolled in this program unless you return the “Opt-Out” form that will be enclosed with the IGS letter coming in the mail. If you want to be excluded from the Greene County Electric Aggregation program, you must return the “Opt-Out” form or contact IGS Energy directly at 1-877-353-0162 by the deadline of July 17, 2015. If you do not cancel or “Opt-Out” prior to the July 17th deadline, you will be enrolled in the program until it expires with your May 2018 billing period.
If you choose to participate in the program, Dayton Power and Light (DP&L) will still maintain the wires system that delivers power to your home or business, and you will continue to receive a single bill from DP&L for your electric service with your lower IGS Energy rate included.
The ultimate goal of this program has been, and continues to be, to help our residents save some of their hard-earned money. Should you have any questions regarding the program, please call IGS Energy at 1-877-353-0162, weekdays, from 8:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. EST.
