1. My child is in immediate danger with their other parent. What can I do?

Contact Greene County Children Services at (937) 562-6600 and/ or the police. These agencies have the ability to respond immediately to danger or threats of danger to your child.

To make changes to your current custody/parenting time Order, contact your attorney to file the appropriate paperwork. (Pro se litigants can access the Court's Emergency Motion paperwork on the Forms page.) Please note that the Court is not an emergency response agency. Once your Emergency Motion is filed, the Court will schedule your case for an emergency hearing within 14 days of filing.

2. The other parent is wrongfully withholding the children. What can I do?

If you are in Greene County, you may contact the Sheriff's Office. You will need to show the Sheriff's Office a certified copy of your divorce or dissolution decree, which states you are the residential parent and legal custodian of the child. The Sheriff can then accompany you to the other parent's home while you secure the return of your child. If this does not work, you should contact an attorney.

3. What is the mandatory parenting seminar and how do I sign up?

All parents of minor children who file for divorce, dissolution, or legal separation must complete the online 2-hour Co-Parenting/Divorce Class offered through the Online Parenting Programs website. This class covers topics surrounding the impact ending your marriage can have on your children. All participants who successfully complete the seminar must print a certificate of completion. Pro se paperwork will not be filed until a certificate of completion is received. In a divorce, the filing party’s certificate is needed before filing; in a dissolution, both parties’ certificates are required before filing. Register online for the 2-hour Co-Parenting/Divorce Class.  The class costs $29.99 and payment must be made through the website.
