Are certified copies included in my filing fees?: Certified Letters of Authority, Letters of Guardianship, and certified Entries are now included with the initial filing fees on all actions. Please see the Filing Fee Schedule to determine how many certified copies are included with each action. Additional certified copies can be purchased as needed.

1. Does your Court keep filing fees on deposit?: Greene County Probate Court does not keep filing fees on deposit. Actions are charged on a “pay as you file” basis. Initial filing fees are paid to initiate the action. Subsequent filings are charged at the time of filing. It is important to check our Filing Fee Schedule before filing with the Court.

2. Does your Court charge per page for filings?: Greene County Probate Court does not charge per page on most regular actions. The only per page filing fees are applicable to certified, authenticated and exemplified copies.

3. What payment methods does your Court accept?: Greene County Probate Court accepts cash, check, money order, credit or debit cards and online payments. Personal checks are only accepted from within the State of Ohio. Individuals that are located in another state may submit a cashier’s check, money order, cash or utilize the Court’s online payment system. Makes checks payable to “Greene County Probate Court.”

4. Are certified copies included in my filing fees?: Certified Letters of Authority, Letters of Guardianship, and certified Entries are now included with the initial filing fees on all actions. 5. Do you charge for service costs before service is issued?: Service fees for FedEx, USPS Certified Mail or Sheriff service are collected after service is issued. Greene County Probate Court will notify counsel and parties of service fees as they become due.

6. When does your Court issue refunds?: Issuance of refunds are rare based upon the Court’s “pay as you file” system. The only routine issuance of refunds applies in cases in which a service is unable to be performed, such as a guardianship investigation or an adoption assessment.

7. Do you charge different filing fees for appointment of a successor fiduciary or successor guardian?: Greene County Probate Court has a modified filing fee for successor appointments in existing cases. Please see the Filing Fee Schedule for fees on successor appointments.

8. What does your Court charge to convert a release to a full administration?: Greene County Probate Court has a modified filing fee for converting from one case type to another in existing cases. Please see the Conversion of Case Type Filing Fee Schedule for fees on converting an existing case to another case type.

9. Why are your Court’s filing fees different than other counties?: Greene County Probate Court has adopted its Filing Fee Schedule after a comprehensive analysis of Ohio law regarding filing fees. The Court’s fees are adopted pursuant to this Court’s interpretation and application of Ohio law regarding filing fees in probate matters.

10. Why did you change your filing fees?: Filing fees in Greene County Probate Court were last updated on April 1, 2009. The Court’s objective in adopting the updated Filing Fee Schedule was to assure that fees are consistent with Ohio law. The adoption of the “pay as you file” system is to assure that all filing fees are consistent with the actual items that are being filed in a particular case.
